Functional Importance of The Foster Families in the US | ||

| Today, I started a new volunteering activity at Florence Crittenton in Fullerton, California. This organization supports foster families in the United States. It got me thinking about the differences between orphanages in Korea and foster family systems in the U.S. In Korea, orphanages take care of children who have been abandoned. They provide a safe place, food, and education for these children. The caregivers in these orphanages do their best to give the kids a sense of family and belonging.
A Foster Family (aka 수양가정 in Korean), on the other hand, is a family that takes in children who cannot live with their biological parents. These families provide a temporary home until the children can return to their birth families or find a permanent home through adoption. Foster families are very important because they offer a loving and supportive environment for children during a difficult time in their lives. They help kids feel safe and cared for, which is essential for their growth and well-being. Organizations like Florence Crittenton play a crucial role in supporting foster families.
