HR is like talking to the police: Everything you say can and will be used against you.
4 lies HR tells employees:
1. "We're here to listen"
Translation: We're gathering evidence
2. "This is a safe space"
Translation: For the company, not you
3. "We take this very seriously"
Translation: We're building our defense
4. "We'll investigate thoroughly"
Translation: We'll find ways to discredit you
🚨 Real story: An employee reported harassment.
HR invited her to "share everything." She did.
Two months later, HR and her manager twisted her words:
"You admitted to feeling anxious, so maybe you misinterpreted the jokes."
"You said you felt less confident—perhaps this isn't the right role for you."
"You noted feeling distracted—this could explain your recent mistakes."
