One-Punch Man: Saitama's Promotion Journey and the Final Goal as a Hero

Saitama joins the Hero Association to get his first official hero license. However, he receives the lowest rank, C-Class. In the One-Punch Man universe, most C-Class heroes are weak and form groups to achieve their goals, as they are unable to do much on their own. 

C-Class heroes also have a unique requirement: weekly performance reports. Failure to submit these reports results in their removal from the hero roster. This motivates Saitama to finally leave his home and embark on his heroic journey.

Saitama initially ranks 388th in C-Class, indicating his poor performance in the written exam. He then enters the hero world from the very bottom. C, B, and A-Class ranks are determined by various factors such as strength, popularity, and sense of justice.

While many manga protagonists gradually become stronger throughout the series, One-Punch Man stands out by portraying Saitama as already at the peak of his power. His immense strength is acknowledged in the physical test, where he likely achieved a perfect score. It's his performance in the practical exam that ultimately hinders his initial ranking. 

While Saitama's physical power is undeniable, his ranking is also influenced by his "heroic qualities" – his ability to protect civilians, understanding of situations, and his actions in certain scenarios. For example, Mumen Rider's impressive performance despite lacking physical strength showcases the importance of these qualities.
S-Class heroes, known for their extreme power, were initially A-Class heroes who rose through the ranks. This escalation was prompted by the emergence of powerful monsters, leading to the creation of S-Class to safeguard against their threats. 

To be promoted to S-Class, heroes need to have defeated Dragon-level or Demon-level monsters. However, Saitama's true power is hidden from the Association as King takes credit for most of his victories, leaving Saitama unnoticed in the shadows. Nevertheless, S-Class heroes like Tatsumaki, Fubuki, Bang, and Genos gradually recognize Saitama's immense strength.

Saitama climbs to 342nd place in C-Class by defeating Sonic, who was targeting him. While this achievement should have warranted a higher ranking, Saitama's C-Class status prevented him from being recognized for Sonic's strength.

Saitama quickly rises to the top of C-Class by destroying a meteorite that fell on City-Z. Despite this heroic act, he is only credited with "assisting" in the rescue, with the majority of credit going to Genos and Metal Knight.

 This episode highlights the unfairness of the hero system, where S-Class heroes are favored over lower-ranked heroes despite their contributions. It also reveals a lack of knowledge and critical thinking among the citizens who are oblivious to the danger they would have faced without Saitama's intervention.

Saitama earns his promotion to B-Class by defeating the formidable Deep Sea King, who had defeated many S Class heroes. Despite this feat, he's once again only credited with "assisting" in the fight. This highlights the Hero Association's bias and its tendency to ignore the efforts of lower-ranked heroes.

While Saitama's initial heroic efforts are overlooked, it is encouraging that individuals like Tatsumaki and Fubuki, along with a few other staff members, begin to recognize his exceptional abilities.

Each rank's top position is occupied by individuals with questionable motives and lack of heroism. While Saitama makes his way through B-Class, he faces off against Boros, a near-God-level opponent. This battle, though unseen by the Hero Association, reinforces Saitama's incredible power.

Despite Saitama's achievements, his contributions are constantly overlooked. He saves the world from Boros and defeats the powerful monster Garou, only to be credited with "participating" in their fights.
Saitama's promotion to A-Class marks the start of his gradual recognition within society. This class handles threats from Tiger-level monsters, and its top position is held by Amai Mask, who actively prevents the promotion of any A-Class heroes to S-Class.

Saitama's presence in A-Class is significant as he showcases his overwhelming strength even at this lower level. His actions, including taking down A-Class heroes who challenge him, demonstrate his exceptional abilities.
While his journey through A-Class is still ongoing, it's clear that Saitama's eventual promotion to S-Class is inevitable. Even Amai Mask, who has shown disdain for other heroes, acknowledges Saitama's strength.

Saitama's journey is marked by consistent challenges and misjudgment from the Hero Association. He faces attempts to exploit his strength from fellow heroes who underestimate him. This ongoing theme of misjudgment and exploitation highlights the flawed structure of the Hero Association.

S-Class heroes are the elite of the Hero Association, responsible for protecting the world from the most formidable threats. They are judged solely on their performance, with no room for subjective factors like popularity or public image. These heroes have the power to defeat Demon-level and Dragon-level monsters, but they struggle against God-level threats. 

One-Punch Man's climax involves a God-level threat that brings the Hero Association to its brink. Saitama, though, plays a crucial role in this battle, ultimately saving the world.

Saitama's incredible abilities, his rapid ascent to the top of the Hero Association, and his constant misjudgment by the organization all highlight the unique nature of One-Punch Man. His journey is a testament to his unwavering strength and his unwavering commitment to justice. Ultimately, it is only a matter of time before Saitama is recognized as the true hero he is and achieves the recognition he deserves.
