My Journey as a Taekwondo Assistant Master | |||
| |||
I've been practicing Taekwondo since I was a kid in Korea. Even as a middle school student, I was already pretty good, reaching the fourth category. But when I moved to America, I thought I'd have to leave Taekwondo behind. However, life had a surprise for me. Now, here I am, in Irvine, guiding children as an assistant master in Taekwondo. It's amazing how things turn out sometimes. "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." - John Lennon Seeing the kids enjoying Taekwondo makes me happy. Last Saturday, we all gathered at the studio to celebrate promotions. It was a joyous occasion, and I felt proud to be part of this group. My journey here hasn't been easy. I've been busy studying for exams, and my body isn't always in the best shape for Taekwondo. But I keep at it, week after week. "As I continue to practice Taekwondo regularly, I notice something interesting happening." My body is gradually getting stronger and more flexible. It's a slow process, but it's happening. Taekwondo isn't just about physical strength; it's also about mental discipline. "One of my favorite quotes is by Bruce Lee: 'The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.'" This quote reminds me that success in Taekwondo, and in life, comes from focus and determination. There's a sense of fulfillment in helping these kids learn and grow through Taekwondo. It's not just about teaching them kicks and punches; it's about instilling values like discipline, respect, and perseverance. "Every day, I'm reminded of why I fell in love with Taekwondo in the first place." It's not just a sport; it's a way of life. And as an assistant master, I'm grateful for the opportunity to share this way of life with others. Taekwondo has taught me valuable lessons that extend far beyond the walls of the studio. It's taught me the importance of setting goals, pushing through challenges, and never giving up. "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill There are days when I feel tired or discouraged, but then I see the determination in the eyes of the kids I teach, and it gives me renewed energy. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it reminds me why I chose this path. As I continue my journey as a Taekwondo assistant master, I look forward to the lessons I'll learn and the lives I'll touch along the way.
