Sushi Koto: The "Ohtani" Sushi Spot in Irvine | ||
| ||
I had no chance to visit Japanese food for a while, because I don't like seafood usually, but we decided to have a lunch at a popular restaurant in her neighborhood. We chose Sushi Koto, known as the "Ohtani Sushi" place, in Fountain Valley. It's a spacious, unpretentious restaurant. We heard they always have a line during lunch, so we went for an early lunch, but there were actually some empty tables this day. I only took a picture of my own food, so the other photos are from Yelp. Since we were at the "Ohtani" place, we had to try the "Ohtani Don." It's a $32 dish featuring a generous portion of tuna belly, salmon, amberjack, raw shrimp, and scallop. The fish was thick and fresh, and it was so delicious that I ate everything except a little bit of rice. Some of the dishes come with dessert, and the Ohtani Don came with an orange pudding. It looked pretty, but the taste was...meh. I only took a bite. (I'm not a big dessert person anyway.) When I told my father about it, he said he'd been there before, as his office is nearby. He said the Ohtani Don is a bit too much for lunch and prefers the Chirashi. He said it's a good size, delicious, and affordable. There are several good sushi restaurants in Irvine, but Sushi Koto stands out with its excellent quality and affordable prices. If you're in Fountain Valley, you should definitely try it out.
