Reflections on a Year of Volunteering at Torrance Wilson Park: Season in 2023-2024 | |||
| |||
Last Saturday, I had my last volunteer activity of the year at Torrance Wilson Park. Torrance Wilson Park is a beautiful place with trees and grass, a popular walking course for citizens of Torrance. As I started my volunteer work, I first picked up the trash that was lying in the park. Then, I cleaned the benches and the playground equipment. I worked hard, dividing up areas with friends from other parts of Orange County, California. After cleaning up, we took a commemorative photo and reflected on our activities over the past year from 2023 to 2024. All of this was our effort to create a clean environment, and I am so proud of these activities in HALO Club. Volunteering has taught me a lot. First, I realized that volunteering not only helps others but also helps me grow. And I learned how to communicate and cooperate with friends I met while volunteering. The new season of volunteer activities begins in June of this year. I will be volunteering with a joyful heart then too. Looking back at the year, I feel proud of what we have achieved. The park is cleaner, and I have grown as a person. I look forward to the new season and the new opportunities it will bring. Volunteering has become a meaningful part of my life. It’s a way to give back to the community and improve myself at the same time. I encourage others to try volunteering. It’s a rewarding experience that can teach you many things. "Volunteering not only helps others, but it also helps you grow." - Johnny Kang at HALO Club. As I prepare for the next season of volunteer activities, I am excited and ready to continue making a difference.
