Our family is on the brink of moving to the United States. Dad announced the plan to move to the US in November 2021. Leaving behind the high school I worked hard to get into was tough, but circumstances led us to the US without looking back. In January, our whole family departed for the US to scout out the house we would live in. Dad booked a flight to LAX in the afternoon from Korea, and after about 13 hours of flight time, we arrived at the US airport. "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." - Lao Tzu Though it was a long flight, the in-flight entertainment made it enjoyable. Dad had already completed all the green card procedures, so as soon as we arrived at the US airport, we went through immigration visa checks, and it didn't take long for us to complete the entry process. "I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be." - Douglas Adams I've been to the US a few times before, but this time feels different. After going through the procedures, we took the rental car Dad had reserved and headed to a hotel in Anaheim. It was already late when we arrived. Dad had already booked a house to tour, and even though we hadn't seen it yet, my heart was already racing. “Home is not a place, it's a feeling.” The next day, we drove to the house we were going to tour. Located in a quiet neighborhood, the house had a cozy feel to it. As we walked through the house, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The rooms were spacious, and the large windows let in plenty of natural light. “Home is where love resides, memories are created, and laughter never ends.” Exploring each room, I could already imagine our family making memories in this new home. From the backyard where we could have barbecues to the cozy living room where we could watch movies together, everything felt just right. “Home is the starting place of love, hope, and dreams.” Leaving the house, I felt a sense of certainty and excitement about our new life in the US. As we drove back to the hotel, I couldn't wait to start this new chapter and turn this house into our home.
